Other connections with Japan include University of Kumamoto Gakuen (considered a sister university to ULIS), Daiaku, Nagaoka, Tokyo Foreign Language University, as well as several agreements with various business firms from Japan. ULIS VNU was the first institution in Vietnam to offer degrees in Japanese Language Teacher Education.

ULIS is the only institution in Vietnam to have a bachelor program in German language teacher education. Many of our teachers also work closely with the Goethe Institute and some students receive grant from the WUS organization in Germany. Russian languages have been offered for over 50 years at ULIS and still continues links with the Pushkin Institute in Moscow. Arabic too enjoys support from close cooperation from the many Arab embassies here in Hanoi, especially Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt. Egypt has offered 10 month scholarships to study in Egypt to ULIS students.

The joint ULIS-Southern New Hampshire University (USA) English program is one of the largest and best run programs as is their intensive English studies program. This is according to several awards recently such as the Best English Teaching Program awarded to ULIS in 2013, and the top universities standing listed at <

When Former US President Bill Clinton spoke at Vietnam National University on November 17, 2000, he is most quoted as saying “While we can not change our past, we can change our future” and that has been seen not only with this program in the US, but with many other similar partnerships.

Vietnamese-American Vocational Training College, known as "VATC", is a private vocational college in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and licensed and regulated by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs (MOLISA) of Vietnam. It was established in 1997 as an English-language training center, but became licensed to offer vocational college degrees in 2006. In 2008 it began a partnership with Broward College in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to begin the process of internationalizing its programs with a goal toward ultimately offering accredited U.S. associate's degree programs.

In 2011 Broward College received approval from its accrediting body to allow its associate's degrees to be offered in Vietnam through VATC. In 2012 VATC was licensed by MOLISA to offer these degrees, becoming the host of the new Broward College Vietnam International Center and, for the first time, allowing Broward College Associate of Arts and Associate of Science programs to be offered in Vietnam. VATC thus became the first institution in Vietnam to offer accredited American community college programs in a traditional, face-to-face classroom environment, with a full suite of student services, student life activities, and learning resources. VATC's Broward College faculty and staff come from all over the globe, including the United States, Germany, Australia, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Singapore, and Vietnam. The student body is primarily Vietnamese, but a significant minority of students come from countries such as China, Cambodia, Canada, France, and the United States. Upon graduating with an associate's degree, students either enter the workforce, or continue towards a bachelor's degree in the United States, Australia, Singapore, or elsewhere.

With a rapidly growing student body in the Broward College program, VATC is now the first fully functional American community college in Vietnam.
