The university admitted 411 students in June 2002 for its first intake. It is evident that the university's student population has grown rapidly over the years. According to one of the university's publication, it now has a student enrolment of more than 24,000 students. For a start, the university offered only eight honours degree programmes but the university now offers more than 117 programmes which include foundation, undergraduate as well as postgraduate degree programmes covering numerous disciplines of study and research. Those programmes are accredited by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) & Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and recognised by Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA). Furthermore, UTAR's Accounting degree are recognised by CPA, FPAM, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CTIM, ICSA & MICPA. Other than that, UTAR's Quantity Surveying degree are recognised by BQSM and RICS, meanwhile UTAR's Engineering degree programmes are recognised by BEM and IEM.

The university has 4 campuses located in Gong Badak (Main Campus), Kuala Terengganu/Kota (Medical Campus), Besut (Tembila Campus) and the latest is Unisza International Campus (UIC) in Kuala Lumpur City. Curtin was conferred University status after the legislation was passed by the State Government of Western Australia in 1986. Since then, the University has been expanding its presence and currently has campuses in Sydney, Singapore, and Sarawak. It has ties with 90 exchange universities in more than 20 countries. The University comprises five main faculties with over 95 specialists centres.
Curtin was awarded five-stars overall in the annual QS Stars university ratings for 2014. Curtin is ranked 284 by QS World University Rankings 2013. As of 2013, the University is also ranked in The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) as one of the top 500 world universities.
To date, Curtin Creative Writing staff and alumni have won the Miles Franklin Award a total of 7 times.

The Swinburne Sarawak campus operates as a full-fledged branch campus, joining three other Swinburne campuses in Melbourne, Australia, and is under the academic control of Swinburne's Higher Education Division in Australia. The lab have a clinical focus on disorders of the ear, audition and balance. They are a physiologic and engineering focus on all aspects of communication, balance regulation and auditory and vestibular perception.
They are particularly interested in multisensory integration, environmental-sensory interactions, and cognitive-sensory interactions. Their research encompasses novel transducers, novel measurement devices and novel complex probes of sensory and cognitive function. They also develop commercial and general consumer applications in these areas.
The research facility is located in the Division of Otolaryngology, Department of Surgery, Capital District Health Authority, and is affiliated with the Department of Biomed Engineering, School of Human Communication Disorders, the Department of Psychology, School of Physiotherapy, and the Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology, Dalhousie University.
The school was before now the only school training Dental Technologist and Therapistin Nigeria,until recently when other Schools joined in the training of Dental Therapist and Teharapists. Twintech has around 4,000 students studying local and overseas twinning programmes. Approximately 150 local and overseas full-time lecturers support the academic programmes at Twintech.

Nursing, B. Biotechnology and more.
