Ege University in Bornova, a district of Izmir, the third largest city in Turkey and one of its principal industrial, commercial, cultural and tourist centers. Several components of Dokuz Eylül University have attained a goal of continuous development in education, research and practice through the ISO 9001 2000 Quality Management System certificate: Social Sciences Institute and School of Maritime Business and Management (2001), University Presidency (2003) and Medical Faculty and Health Sciences Institute (2004).
The university has about 40 vocational programs, 114 undergraduate programs and 110 graduate programs. In total it has about 264 programs.
The university, with its 1903 teaching staff, offers courses to over 40,000 undergraduate, post graduate and doctorate students.
The library has internet access and houses national and international publications. Computer rooms are available for student use campus-wide. These computer rooms are also used for computer-assisted education and scientific research. The university also offers its students recreational facilities including an indoor sports center and swimming pool, a boathouse and sports grounds. Students can make the best of their leisure time in any of the 29 student clubs.
The students of the university have the opportunity to do practical training abroad through AIESEC and similar organizations. Transportation to the Balcalı Campus is offered by private bus services.

In addition, İnönü University has the biggest Solar Energy Center in Turkey. With this energy center, İnönü University produces its own electricity for Turgut Ozal Medical Center. This center is the most innovative investment and İnönü University did it its own endowment. Solar Energy Center fulfills 30 percent of Turgut Ozal Medical Center electricity requirement. İnönü University Solar Energy Center started to work May 2015.

The University has two main campuses. The first is located in the old town of Ankara and hosts the Medical Centre, and the second is the Beytepe Campus, which is 13 km (8 mi) from the city centre. The Beytepe Campus covers 6,000,000 m2 (600 ha; 1,483 acres) of green land and woodland, and hosts the faculties of Economic and Administrative Sciences, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Letters, and Science. In addition to these two main campuses, the School of Social Work is located at Keçiören, and the Turkish State Conservatory in Ankara, affiliated with the University as of 1982, is located at the Beşevler Campus.

Over one third of the 1,000 highest scoring students in the national university entrance examination choose to enroll in METU; and most of its departments accept the top 0.1% of the nearly 1.5 million applicants. METU had the greatest share in national research funding by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) in the last five years, and it is the leading university in Turkey in terms of the number of European Union Framework Programme (FP) projects participation. Over 40% of METU's undergraduate alumni choose to pursue graduate studies.

There are totally 170 departments and programs in our university ; 45 departments including the second education program in 10 faculties and 12 in higher vocational schools, 93 programs in higher vocational schools, 17 departments in the Institute of Natural Sciences, 9 departments in the Institute of Social Sciences, 6 departments subordinated to the Rectorate.
The university has a number of research and sports facilities, situated in Mersin town centre and in other towns.
In 2005 the Mersin Technology Development Zone (Technoscope) was set up, creating a partnership between the university's research and development departments and industry, with the aim of developing new technologies that could be directly translated into industrial production.
