The Budapest Business School (informally BBS (in Hungarian: Budapesti Gazdasági Főiskola or BGF)) is a public business school specialised in business studies and social sciences located in Budapest, Hungary. Founded in 1857 by merchants and bankers of Austria-Hungary in order to establish the economic vocational training of higher education in the empire and in Central Europe. BBS is officially the second oldest business school in the world.

The Budapest Business School is Hungary's market leading and largest business school and conducts education and research in leadership, economics, operations management, marketing, entrepreneurship, organizational behavior, and other areas; as of this time, its most acclaimed programs are finance, accounting, strategic management, and tourism. The School offers a wide range of graduate-level academic programs and concentrations. In the latest academic year the Budapest Business School offers 12 Bachelor's degree programmes, in case of most programmes in English, French, German and Hungarian language as well. Offers 12 Master's degree programmes, of which the most populars are Master of Finance, Master of Management (equal to MBA), Master of International Business and Master of Tourism Management. Moreover, offers PhD in Management doctoral school, 51 post-graduate professional qualification with either Hungarian, English, German, Dutch or French state degree accreditations, being recognized within the European Union and throughout the world.

Semmelweis University is the largest health care institution in Hungary, with over 9,000 employees covering about 6% of the health care needs of the country’s population.

With a quarter of a million of books, Semmelweis University has one of the biggest and best-furnished medical-biological collections in Hungary, and among the Hungarian universities, Semmelweis produces the greatest number of publications. The university is deeply involved in the patient care of the Great-Budapest region. Of its 3000 clinical beds, 75% take part in the regional medical care and some special outpatients' departments also supply the teaching hospitals with patients needed for the training.

The portrait of Maria Theresa in the Assembly Hall of the University still commemorates the founding of the Medical Faculty by the Empress of Austria-Hungary more than 230 years ago, forging a continuous link in the education and training of medical students.

The name of the University honors Ignác Semmelweis, a former professor of the Medical Faculty between 1855 and 1865, who discovered the cause and prevention of puerperal fever. Semmelweis was the first Hungarian university, which started to offer international courses at the Faculty of Medicine in German in 1983. The English programs started four years later, in 1987. Nowadays, the university enrolls more than 200 new international students each year. Still, students from Germany form the majority of the international student body, although numbers from Israel, Scandinavia, Ireland and Cyprus show consistent growth in recent years.

The General Medicine program is listed by the WHO and it is recognized without any licensing examinations in all European Union countries, applies to the nationals of the member states. Semmelweis University is listed in the IMED / FAIMER directory and it is also recognised by the Medical Board of California, considered the gold standard for recognition in the USA. In 2015, it was ranked in the 101-150 Medical Category in QS World University Rankings. The Semmelweis medical education is considered the best in Hungary and one of the best in Europe, Semmelweis is noted for its pioneering research and innovation among the medical community around the globe.

The program leading to the Doctor of Medicine degree consists of six years: two years of general medical studies, three years of clinical studies, and one year of a rotating internship. International students enrolled in the English program are mostly from the EU, Norway, Ireland, Israel, Cyprus, Iran, Japan, Nigeria, Canada, South Korea, Sweden, Turkey, Germany, Spain and the USA.

The Semmelweis University seeks motivated candidates for the program with a solid background in biology and chemistry. In addition to these subjects, students must pass an entrance exam in English. The application deadline is in April and the course starts in September. Entrance exams are arranged at several locations in Europe, Israel, North America, Asia, and Africa.

Since 1 September 2014, the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences has been separated from Semmelweis University and continues to operate as an independent institution under the name University of Physical Education.

Pázmány Péter Catholic University is a private university of the Catholic Church in Hungary, recognized by the state. Founded in 1635, the PPCU is one of Hungary's oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education.

The Faculty of Theology was established by archbishop Péter Pázmány in Nagyszombat, the Kingdom of Hungary (today Trnava, Slovakia) in 1635. The university is located in three cities: the Rectors' Office, the Faculty of Theology, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Information Technology, and the Postgraduate Institute of Canon-Law are located in Budapest. The campus of the Vitéz János Faculty of Teaching is in Esztergom, around the Esztergom Basilica. The campus of the Faculty of Humanities is in Piliscsaba, in the vicinity of Budapest.

The university has several research groups and institutes. One of the most important international research programmes of the university is the Syro-Hungarian Archeological Mission, which does the restoration of Margat's crusader fortress.

Nearly 10.000 students attend the university, enrolled in several Bachelor, Master, and PhD programmes.

It has a wide range of international cooperations, including the Erasmus programme and bilateral agreements. It was named in 2009 as one of the most active members of the Erasmus programme. It is a co-establisher of the International Research Universities Network and has strong connections with Radboud University Nijmegen, Catholic University of Leuven, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Saint Louis University and University of Notre Dame.
